                                             The Temple of the Tooth is one of the highlights of Kandy.  It is located in the heart of Kandy, surrounded by lakes and the Commercial District.  The palace was once the residence of the king and his wives, but after the demise of the Kandyan kingdom, the palace was transformed into the Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Buddha.  It is a place that all tourists should visit.  Visitors can view Buddhist rituals, explore the museum, which includes several artefacts, and pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at one of the Buddhist festivals held on the premises.  The magnificent significance of the Temple of the Tooth is sure to amaze you architecturally as well as historically.

                                    


 

                                   Interesting facts: New Palace, Auditorium and World Buddhist Museum.  Before preparing for your visit, remember that the palace is a Buddhist shrine and you should dress to cover your shoulders and feet.  Excursions Knuckles Mountain Temple of the Tooth Climbing Pinnawala.The monks of the two special sects of the Malwathu sect and the Asgiri sect worship daily in the inner chamber of the temple.  Rituals are performed three times a day: morning, noon and evening.  On Wednesdays, the relic bath is symbolically performed with fragrant water and herbs made from fragrant flowers called Nanumura Mangalya.  This holy water is believed to have healing powers and is distributed to those present.  The temple was damaged in 1989 by bombings by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and in 1998 by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.  However it was completely overhauled in each case.  History v Architecture.The Temple of the Tooth is one of the most valuable religious sites in Sri Lanka.

                                               My Favorite City.    My favorite city is Galle. This city is located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka and is a popular destination for many people.                            Galle was also known as Gimhathiththa before the arrival of the Portuguese and was the main port of the island during the 17th century.
